One of the most important festivals in our Marathi culture!
What a great pleasure it would be to celebrate it with a big Dhamaka
with all our near and dear friends!
This year we the theme is “Encourage our own local talents”.
We have very smart, enthusiastic, rasik actors, dancers, singers,
artists, and players hidden in all of us. We are excited to see and
show off the talents to our whole community.
Chala tar MandaLi, this is the time to get rewarded for your own
talent and creations. Let us give our judges a hard time by flooding
them with lots of entries....

General Rules |
-
All the
participants in different activities and competitions are expected
to be from
families of EBMM. However, non members giving quality
performances may also be considered at the sole discretion of the
EBMM Executive Committee.
-
One kid/person can participate in only
one of the on-stage activities during the Talent Show in order to give scope to more kids.
However, depending on response and time available, one kid/person
may be allowed to participate in more than one on-stage item on
first come first serve and quality/merit basis based on the judgment
of the Entertainment Committee.
-
All kids can participate in
Greeting Card competition.
-
Any of the spardhas will be
cancelled if there are less than 6 entries in a given category. In
this case, whatever entries collected will still be displayed.
-
Family can participate in all competitions - Aakash Kandil, Rangoli & Killa.
-
1st and 2nd prize winners in all
categories will be awarded at Diwali Function.

Akashkandil (Diwali Decorative Lamp)

& Guidelines for Akashkandil Spardha
Entry Fee:
FREE
Age Group: Family (Individual Entries will also be treated as Family
Entry)
Eligibility Criteria:
You are expected to be a paid
EBMM Member to participate.
Non members may be considered depending on the response. If you are not
a paid member,
you can become member on or before 31st October 2006 in order to
participate in the spardha.
Material: All the supplies and the material required will be
arranged by the participants.
Display: All the akashkandils will be suitably displayed by the
participants in the hall during the Diwali Function on Saturday 4th
November
2006.
Specifications: Any shape & size is acceptable. Only electric bulbs
will be allowed inside the akashkandil. The participants will arrange
the
lights in the akashkandil if required. No burning lamps or candles
allowed.
Inspection: Panel of Judges will decide the 1st & 2nd prize in each
group.
Tips:
Material: You
can use Thermocol, Plastic bottles, jars, containers, boxes, bamboo
sticks, flexible wires etc...
Shapes: Square, Rectangle, Triangle, Star, Sphere, Cyclinder,
Polygone etc...
Note: Even if this a Family Spardha, ensure that the kids are
encouraged to contribute more. There is no limit on quantity for Family
Spardha; so you can submit one item per family member also if you want.
Thus you can submit separate Akashkandil for each of your family members
who wants to submit separate item.

Greeting Card Spardha (Competition)

Rules & Guidelines for Diwali Greetings Spardha
Entry Fee: FREE
Age Group: (a) Above 5 upto 12 years (b) Above 12 upto 15
years (c) above 15 years.

Eligibility Criteria: You are expected to be a paid EBMM Member to
participate. If you are not a paid member, you can become
member on or before 31st October 2006 in order to participate in the
spardha.
Non members may be considered depending on the response.
Specifications:
Size: Greeting Card size will be: 5 inches X 8 inches paper.
Note that you will have to use a regular A4 size paper 8.5" X 11"
cut it to the size of 8" X 10" and fold in the center. Your paper
cutting skills will also be considered by the judges.
Greeting Card will have a center fold.
On the front you will draw the picture by hand and inside there will
be a hand written Diwali message.
Compliments. Use of computer is not allowed to prepare greetings.
You can not paste a photo or a readymade picture.
Participants will not put their names or any other obvious
identification on the greeting cards.
Organizing committee will number them before inspection by judges.
Greeting Cards are to be prepared in the Hall on the event day!
Material: All the supplies and the material required will be
arranged by the participants. Bring your own white/colored blank
paper/s and pencil,
eraser, crayons, colored pencils, glitter pens, markers (no other
medium accepted).
Display: All the Greetings will be suitably displayed by the
participants in the hall during the Diwali Function on Saturday 4th
November 2006.
Inspection: Panel of Judges will decide the 1st & 2nd prize
in each group.

Killa (Fort) Spardha

Rules & Guidelines for Diwali
Killa Spardha
Entry Fee: FREE
Age Group: Family. (Individual Entries will also be treated
as Family Entry)
Eligibility Criteria: You are expected to be a paid EBMM Member to
participate. If you are not a paid member, you can
become member on or before 31st October 2006 in order to participate
in the spardha.
Non members may be considered depending on the response.
Material: All the supplies and the material required will be
arranged by the participants.
Specifications: Any size and theme is acceptable.
Participants will prepare the Killa in their house, either inside or
outside in the backyard/patio/Front Yard as convenient to them. Name
plate to be kept near the Killa which will identify it with the
participant.
Inspection: Participants will inform the organizers to
arrange the visit of judge to their house to inspect the Killa with
prior appointment as soon as the Killa is ready. Judge will take the
photo of the Killa and a Panel of Judges will decide the 1st & 2nd
prize.
Deadline: Last date for completion of Killa is Wednesday 18th
October 2006.
Precaution: Participants are also required to take photos of
the Killa as soon as it is complete. So that accidentally if it is
damaged before
inspection, judges at their description may consider the photos
while inspecting.
Tips:
Material: You can use any material, like mud, sand, bricks,
stones, thermocol, paper Mache, paper boards, Lego blocks, sticks,
wooden planks, straws etc...
Killa Decoration: You can use christmas lamps, other
decoration material like ready made plastic trees, flowers, birds,
animals, soldiers, canons, toys, statue of Shivaji Maharaj, horses
etc...
Stretch your imagination & put
your creativity to work.

Rangoli Sprdha

Rules &
Guidelines for Diwali Rangoli Spardha
Entry Fee:
FREE
Age Group:
Family.
(Individual Entries will also be treated as Family Entry)
Eligibility Criteria: You are expected to be a paid EBMM Member to participate. If
you are not a paid member, you can become member on or before 31st
October 2006 in order to participate in the spardha.
Non members may
be considered depending on the response.
Specifications: Rangoli size will be: 2 feet X 2 feet.
Participants will prepare Rangoli Art in their home on the floor, on
a card board, or even on water in a big plate (Thali)etc... Name
plate to be kept near the Rangoli Art which will identify it with
the participant.
Material:
All the supplies and the material required will be arranged by the
participants.
Inspection:
Participants will inform the organizers to arrange the visit of
judge to their house to inspect the Rangoli & take photos with prior
appointment as soon as it is ready. Panel of Judges will decide the
1st & 2nd prize in each group.
Deadline:
Last date for completion of Rangoli is Wednesday 18th October 2006.
Precautions:
Participants are also required to take photos of the Rangoli Art as
soon as it is complete. So that accidentally if it is damaged
before inspection, judges at their description may consider the
photos while inspecting.
Tips:
- You can use different decoration material like traditional
Diwali Lamps (Panati), Samai, Niranjan etc…
- Make it as colorful as you can with the help of different
Rangoli Colors, flowers, leaves etc…
Note: Even if this a Family Spardha, ensure that the kids
are encouraged to contribute more. There is no limit on quantity for
Family Spardha; so you can submit one item per family member also if
you want. Thus you can submit separate Rangoli Arts for each of your
family members who wants to submit separate item.

Guidelines for Diwlai Pakkruti Spardha
Entry Fee:
FREE
Age Group:
above 15 years.
Eligibility Criteria: You expected to be a paid EBMM Member to participate. If you are
not a paid member, you can become member on or before 31st October
2006 in order to participate in the spardha.
Non members may
be considered depending on the response.
Categories:
There will be 2 categories (a) Goad Padarth (Sweet) (b) Tikhat Padarth (Hot & Spicy)
Material:
All the supplies and the material required will be arranged by the
participants.
Display:
All the dishes will be suitably displayed by the participants in the
hall during the Diwali Function on Saturday 4th November 2006.
Participants will not display any name or any other obvious
identification near the display. Items will be numbered by the
organizinf committee.
Inspection:
Panel of Judges will decide the 1st & 2nd prize in each group. In
addition to preparation decoration will also be given consideration
while deciding the winners. Participants will keep separate samples
for judges to taste.
Tips:
Goad Padarth
(Sweet): Anarase, Ladu, Chirote, Goad Shankarpale, barfi etc...
Tikhat Padarth (Hot & Spicy): Chivada, Chaklya etc...
